Akuo Energy is silver sponsor of the 4th International OTEC Symposium. Akuo Energy develops, finances, builds and operates renewable energy power plants all over the world, amongst others, Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plants. At the end of 2015 Akuo Energy had 560 MW of renewable energy capacity in operation and under construction. Their goal is to increase its worldwide installed capacity to over 3,000 MW within five years.
Akuo Energy is collaborating with DCNS in developing a 10MW net offshore OTEC project off the west coast of Martinique called ‘NEMO’, which was granted EUR 72 million from the European NER 300 subsidy. The NEMO project is expected to be operational in 2018. Also in other regions Akuo Energy develops projects to generate power using the full spectrum of existing renewable energy sources: wind, solar and biomass as well as hydro power from rivers, seas and oceans. Currently it has subsidiaries in ten different countries – France, the United States, Uruguay, Croatia, Poland, Dubai, Indonesia, Turkey, Australia and Morocco.
Akuo Energy is an integrated player covering the entire value chain, developing and financing projects, building, operating and managing the assets. In 2015, Akuo Energy’s total billings came to €156 million from sales of green electricity and thermal energy.
