OTEC Symposium

With previous editions held in Hawaii, Korea and Malaysia, this year’s edition of the annual International Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) Symposium will be held in The Netherlands. The Netherlands, widely recognized as a global hub for of maritime and water management related technologies and industries, provides a perfect gathering place.

The International OTEC Symposium serves as the largest annual gathering of people working on Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion.  The symposium gathers OTEC industry experts, NGO’s and governments from all over the world to discuss the state of the industry. Offering two days of unique and interactive sessions, the event will host a wide variety of international speakers, from key players in the OTEC industry to energy markets and finance experts, and from NGO’s to government representatives from all over the world. The venue of the first day will be the Science Center at the Delft University of Technology on October 25, with a focus on technology and current projects. The second day will be held as an official side event of the Offshore Energy conference at the RAI convention centre in Amsterdam, where the focus will be on the market, certification and the road ahead.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Sustainable use of oceans

Fabien Cousteau, world-renowned oceanographer and documentary filmmaker and grandson of the late Oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, is this  year’s keynote speaker. Mr. Cousteau has followed in his grandfather’s footsteps as an ocean explorer and he spearheads and advocates sustainable use of the oceans. Much like his grandfather was, he is a keen supporter of the global development and implementation of OTEC systems. In his keynote speech, he will provide insight into the necessity, implications and paths for widespread adoption of this technology based on his broad experiences.
